Another angry guest at Pontins in Brean Sands has slammed the Burnham-On-Sea resort and says conditions were so bad she wasn’t willing to change her baby’s nappy inside the ‘minging’ chalet
An angry mum says her birthday stay at family resort Pontins left her in floods of tears due to her ‘absolutely filthy’ accommodation.
The holiday maker said she was so disgusted she walked out hours into her getaway – and says she wouldn’t change her baby’s nappy in the room because of what she found.
Her family shelled out £289 to treat her to the short break – and the parent was expected to pay an extra £20 to hire a cot on arrival.
It is the latest complaint levelled against the Brean Sands park after one called the budget holiday camp “scummy” – with another saying they thought they had to clean their chalets when they arrived.
The Devon woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, told of her terrible trip and provided photographs to the Burnham-On-Sea resort.
Despite being checked-in to the resort’s luxury Club Apartments for four nights along with her partner and 14-month old baby, she headed for home after seeing the state of her accommodation, reports Devon Live.
She claimed there was blood on the door and says she also found a ‘pubic hair’ in the bathroom, with dead flies discovered in the shower.
Inside the fridge there was a bottle of ‘stinking gone-off milk’ – and she says the experience left her in tears.
Pontins have yet to responded when asked for comment.
She said: “From the second we arrived we just did not like the look of the place. The apartment was minging, I wouldn’t even change my child’s dirty nappy in there.
“We looked in the bathroom and there was dead flies and pubic hairs. The mirror was covered in toothpaste.
“I then looked at the kitchen space and underneath the microwave wasn’t clean. There was a toaster full of crumbs.
“The PVC on the door within the apartment had blood on it. The fridge was stinking like gone off milk. The ironing board was stained, tiles were falling off in the bathroom and a curtain was half hanging down.
“And, we were expected to sleep on a rock solid leather sofa bed.
“Because my mum had paid for it I just rang her up in tears, saying I can’t let my baby stay here. And then four hours later we left.”
She says she was excited to be staying in one of the parks more prestigious apartments for her birthday.
According to Pontins website, Club Apartment’s provide guests with a ‘host of additional benefits like free electricity’ as well as the ‘extra luxury of early check-in from 2pm’.
She said: “Mum had paid extra for us to stay in a Club Apartment. So you would think if you pay extra, you get better. But no.
“We tried to speak with a staff member on site but he was unbothered. He sat there, legs open, laid back without a care in the world.
“I thought look at it, look at his posture. He didn’t even care. There was no professionalism.”
The family say that they tried to get a full refund before leaving the site, but were told they need to call Pontins head office, which costs money.
She said: “My mum is dealing with the refund as it was all under her name and everything. In the end we managed to find a nice holiday park called Ladram Bay in Exmouth so we went there and it was just amazing.”
It’s not the first complaint made against Brean Sands recently.
